If there is no patient chart in the EHR for radiology results that cross into the interface, a task will be sent to the ordering provider informing them that results are available. If the provider would like to see the results, then we will work with office administration to make the results available.
Please be advised that because no chart has been set up in the system, these tasks will not be linked to a specific patient in the EHR. If available, the patient’s name and date of birth will be detailed in the task.
We are implementing this new task workflow based on a recommendation from the EHR Optimization Committee. Patient Safety was the concern, as these patients have been seen in the hospital and tests that were ordered should be seen by the ordering provider, especially if the results come back after the patient was discharged.

We have been alerted that the Send Results to Patient Portal check box located in the Verify Results box is not working properly.
When a patient is registered for the portal, users have been told that unchecking this box will prevent the results from flowing into the portal; however, this function IS BROKEN and the results DO flow over to the portal.
If you prefer that a patient not see his or her results of a lab or radiology report before you have talked to the patient, DO NOT VERIFY the lab. This is the only workflow option we have available at this time to prevent a patient from seeing lab or radiology reports.

The CSMD website link located on the vertical tool bar within Allscripts is now working correctly. Previously, when a user attempted to log in through the link, his/her credentials weren’t recognized. This error has been corrected and users can now use the link to log in and check the CSMD database.

The EHR Print/Fax Queue occasionally becomes overloaded. To prevent this, please note the following:

The EHR Print/Fax Queue occasionally becomes overloaded. To prevent this, please note the following:
- Sending multiple faxes to the same number: Most fax machines can only receive one transmission at a time, and if we send several jobs to the same number at once, it is very likely the jobs will time out and fail.
- Sending multiple pages from the same record: We can select multiple objects from the same patient record for transmission in a single fax job. Hold down the “Ctrl” key on your keyboard, and single-click the items you want to fax. Once everything is highlighted, proceed as usual.
- Faxing images: Faxed images process much slower than text, and the chance of jobs timing out increases significantly when the document contains graphics.
- Sending fax jobs that are too large: Jobs larger than 100 pages will time out and fail before completion. Break your fax jobs down in smaller sections when necessary, or consider downloading the documents to a CD.
